ELEAGUE Street Fighter® V Invitational 2018 to Continue as Fighting Game Legends Compete for Last Playoff Berths, Friday, June 22

Live Coverage Begins at 3 p.m. ET on Twitch & B/R Live; TBS to Televise Final Matches at 11 p.m. ET/PT

Turner and IMG’s ELEAGUE Street Fighter® V Invitational 2018 will feature iconic, superstar-caliber Street Fighter players in live action as part of the event’s fourth and final group stage bracket, Friday, June 22, at 3 p.m. ET across Twitch and B/R Live. TBS will also televise featured matches at 11 p.m. ET/PT. The group will see six of the game’s elite talents, including the legendary Daigo Umehara, compete for the final two spots in the Playoffs – held Friday, July 13 – and a shot at the event’s $250,000 purse.

This week’s top storylines:

  • The G.O.A.T.
Group D will be highlighted by Japanese legend Daigo Umehara, whose more than 20 years as a professional and over 50 championships contribute to his being widely considered as the greatest fighting game player of all-time. Umehara, also known as “The Beast,” has been immortalized in the Guinness Book of World Records for his success, as well as written a book called The Will To Keep Winning, released in 2012.
  • Infiltrating Atlanta
Korea’s Seonwoo “Infiltration” Lee will return to the ELEAGUE stage with a No. 2 world ranking as he seeks his second major tournament win in Atlanta. Infiltration took first place at Final Round 2018 and continued to post top-five placements at every other Capcom Pro Tour tournament in which he has competed this year (NorCal Regionals, Stunfest and Combo Breaker).
  • Returning to Roots
At the beginning of the 2018 season, Japan’s Fujimura Atsushi dropped his alias in favor of competing under his birth name, Fujimura. Since the switch, he has collected two first place Tour finishes and will look to keep the momentum going as he competes for the first time on the ELEAGUE stage.

Caster’s Take: “Group D stands for the Group of Death. It was clearly constructed with entertainment top of mind, with it bringing such heavyweights as EVO Champions Daigo, Infiltration and Filipino Champ. Get your popcorn ready.
