Knockout Stage Establishes New Xbox World No. 1 Sunday, Jan 19 2020 Knockout Stage of ELEAGUE FUT Champions Cup Stage III Powered by truth® Establishes New Xbox World No. 1 as Part of Action-Packed Day Two PlayStation® 4 Bracket Highlighted by No. 74 Player’s Upset of No. 5 Major’s Final Day to Feature Console Semifinals, Finals & Grand Final, with Live Coverage Set to Kick Off Sunday at 1 p.m. ET Across Twitch, YouTube & B/R Live The ELEAGUE FUT (FIFA Ultimate Team) Champions Cup Stage III powered by truth narrowed its field from 32 players to the top eight today, as the world’s best competed in a tense single-elimination knockout stage with a $200,000 purse and 2000 EA Sports FIFA 20 Global Series Rankings points at stake. Day Two began with a blockbuster matchup, when four-time FUT Champions Cup winner Tekkz risked his long-held position as the world’s top Xbox player against No. 2 NRASEK, who entered the match ranked second and trailing Tekkz by just 300 points. The contest finished its second leg with the aggregate score tied 2-2, sending the two competitors to penalty kicks. After three saves by each player, Germany’s NRASEK pulled off the victory in sudden death, 2-2 (6-5) –guaranteeing that a new Xbox world No. 1 will be minted by the end of ELEAGUE’s tournament. If NRASEK can continue on to capture the Grand Final, it will be his second consecutive Champions Cup title in the EA Sports FIFA 20 Global Series. Meanwhile, PlayStation® 4 action saw two English players face off – No. 5 Harry vs. No. 74 Tom. Tom – perhaps taking inspiration from Day One’s litany of upsets – managed to edge out Harry 2-2 (3-2) in penalty kicks and lock up a spot in tomorrow’s PS4 semifinals. Complete Day Two scores, stats and standings for both Xbox and PlayStation 4 brackets are available in a new interactive interface on ELEAGUE.com.
